Visual literacy purports that people need to be able to interpret or read visual information as readily as they need to be able to read and comprehend textual information. I never really though about how visual society really is. Students are bombarded with visual information in school and in their free time, so of course it absolutely makes sense to help students make sense of the visual information that comes their way. The question then becomes, are teachers equipped to do this? Do they even realize that this is important? How do we prepare students when their teachers are under prepared?
The following links provide some great insight and maybe can help us to begin unraveling the answers to some of our visual literacy questions.
